PODCASTING FOR DOLLARS

Telegraph | Arts | Why podcasting could turn into a cash cow

From the UK a look at the issues the BBC is facing with an expensive but popular morning radio program. They're eventually going to have to look at the idea of charging for their podcast downloads. If it's that popular, charging seems like a good idea. I mean, if you're getting 413,000+ downloads in a month, that is pretty good distribution. As more and more podcasts float into the mainstream and consciousness of listeners, radio stations will have to make hard choices.

So will listeners. Would you pay a few bucks a month for a copy of your favorite radio program on MP3? If you'd pay for a podcast, what's your limit?

These are questions we have no answers for today, but I can see where they'll pop up in the not-too-distant future.
